Engine Mount Questions
Working on the 61. Curently have a 79 crossmember installed. We have a Gen 1 350 chevy, with a powerglide tranny. thinking of using this style mount. The pic is below.
Note, this is the only pic I could find. The ones we will run will have rubber isolation blocks. Any thoughts question comments questions or concerns

Re: Engine Mount Questions
if you used the 79 cross member and brackets the why not use the engine mounts out of the 79?

Re: Engine Mount Questions
I tried to get them at NAPA. The 79 frame mount is wider than the 92block mount

Re: Engine Mount Questions
There are a couple ways to go. One is to use the motor mount brackets for a '67-'72 with a small block as well as the motor mounts themselves. You may or may not have to add a 1/4" or so spacer on top of the frame. My measurements show no spacer is needed. Others have said that a small spacer is needed.
The other option is to use the motor mount brackets from a '73-'87 C20 or C30. Those will fit the early frames better than the C10 brackets. There again a small spacer on top of the frame may be needed. Then you just use the '73 and up motor mounts, and then any upper bracket (clamshell) will work.

Re: Engine Mount Questions
Thanks Capt Fab,
I have the clam shell style mounts from the newer block. I was looking for the lower half that mounts to the frame. With your information, I should be able to walk into NAPA and ask for a newer mount. They did pull a mount for me and the ears were wider that the clamshell block side (lower ones shown in the picture). As far as a spacer, if its only 1/4 inch I can make something up. I see that you make power steering and brake booster brackets, Ill be ordering some within the next few months. Thanks for the info

That's what I did. My spacers wound up being 1/4" thick. I tried to use everything I could off of my donor truck (1979 Suburban). I like the clamshell style mounts better than the earlier styles, and every parts store out there carries them.
