fender well headers

Anybody have these on an older AD truck with IFS? I swapped out the straight axle for a No Limit Ifs kit and I used headers off my chevelle for the small block. They fit but there really close to the frame. I was wondering if the S10 fenderwell headers would work or if anybody else had some ideas? I love the way fenderwell headers look and give easy room for changing spark plugs etc.

Re: fender well headers

Jdougla9, here are the pictures of the fender well headers. There is plenty of room as you can see. If you need any other angles let me know.

Re: fender well headers

spikey, they look like they will work also. I like how they tuck closer to the frame. How are they with the steering?

Re: fender well headers

The steering column runs between the back two tubes, loads of clearance

Re: fender well headers

I noticed from the photos that the collector points straight down. How would you make the turn to run the exhaust parallel to the frame towards the rear. Again from the photos a 90 deg collector bend looks like it would place the rear pipes way below the frame. I'm sure there a style that would clear the frame like the firewall style that would point the collectors towards the rear. Any ideas. Thanks

Re: fender well headers

Has anyone tried the chevy 2 fenderwell headers by hooker? Chevy high performance magazine has a set on a engine build they're doing. They turn back 90 degrees with street hook ups. If they didn't stick down to far it looks like they would work pretty good.

Weld a collector flange on the header, do the same on a bent transition to tail pipe. For the street they usually came with cap on the main pipe, with the street exhaust welded to the inside of the large collector.

Re: fender well headers

The Hooker headers I referred to are pt. no. PN2214HKR. They have a good pic of them in the Chevy High Performance Nov. issue. I may have to try these on mine if I ever get to that point.

I cut the collector right back and welded on a 90 degree bend. This goes to a QTP exhaust cut out which exits pointing down inside the front fender. The day to day exhaust is tee'd into the back of the 90. Gives around 4" ground clearance
