Need advice on Craigslist find

Im wanting to go out Friday morning and have a look at this truck
http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/4024496036.html
What do yall think about it, is it worth the price? Is there anything specific I should be looking for when it comes to how he did the swap? Any info or advice would be appreciated on the topic, anything at all.

Not sure it seems like you might be asking for trouble, unless you have good mechanical knowledge. Looks like there has been a lot of work done, buth then he lists all the stuff that does not work. Be sure and look close at the motor mounts and tranny mount, those would be point of failure if not done correctly. Buyer beware is what I would say.

The price is definitely right. I would imagine the gauges are as simple as putting in the correct senders and making a mechanical speedo work; a Cable-X box is about $300 for the speedo. The A/C will most likely need a compressor and lines; figure around $500 or so to make that work. It is hard to say how they made the mounts work, but that isn't really hard to overcome if the frame hasn't been hacked up.

Depends on how good you are at repairing things.

I agree. The money looks right and looks like the hard work has been done. I'd pop on it.

Re: Need advice on Craigslist find

Looks pretty sharp i'd just look really hard. But being i houston rust shouldn't be a problem. I'd double check the wiring tranny/motor mounts test drive it good. Money seems right for the truck...

IMO, I think you can find a nice body for less than a grand and build it yourself cheaper and then you would know what you have. I hate taking on other projects and finding out the work was crap. Just my $.02

Re: Need advice on Craigslist find

Thanks for the replies. Luckily I had a friend volunteer to come with me that is more mechanically inclined than me. Hopefully it turns out to be a good deal.
