Re: HID Headlights???
I don't care for the looks of them on older rigs as they look like they were stuck on as anafterthought. The "oh wow, I have 300 bucks left over I'll order that HID kit. But if you get a good set that burns through the bay area fog and helps you be just a bit safer and reach down the long roads as far as there is straight road at night when you want to run across the desert at speeds well above the limit and be able to see a coyote in the road 3oo yards ahead of you, go for it.
The best lights I have had in my truck so far for serious driving were a pair of Cibie's with 55/100 H4 bulbs intended for motorcycles. As fast as the truck was with the 350 in it I never felt like I outran the lights. Don't buy the Ebay so called projection lights though.. Find a set that come in a production car with 7 inch round lights or find a quality set made for said production car as a retrofit and pay the price.

Re: HID Headlights???
I converted my 51 to HID lights using BMW donor parts. See my build thread. Entry #17 is the beginning of how I did it, #98 has a couple more pics with the light in a primed fender, and #608 and #648 show how they look finished.
They are great! I like the unique look of the reflector assembly, but still using the original bucket and trim rings.

Re: HID Headlights???
After fussing with some aftermarket "clear halogen" lights that lost their silvering after getting wet inside I think Atommik hit it pretty well, If you want HID lights on your truck find some oem ones that will fit in the buckets and run them. They are designed to work right because the cars they fit get run hard and need lights you can actually see with. Some of the aftermarket stuff is aimed more at giving the "look" than actually working the way you want and need them to.
