First Exposure

I have been a member for some time now. I have a couple of these trucks and wanted to let you guys see my humble attempt at "Kool." I bought the truck, 3rd owner 235cid with a glide, brought it home powder coated everything in the suspension, converted to 5 lug, rebuilt motor, etc, etc. We then took it to the Rod Run in Pigion Forge, TN last fall and got an overwhelming response. I have since pulled the 235 out and built a small 350 with trick flow heads, comp roller cam, Fast EFI and so on and so on. I plan to fire it up on the Fast EFI Tuesday of this week to get ready to return to the Rod Run again. I appreciate all the tech from the guys on the forum and hope you enjoy my truck as much as I do yours.

Re: First Exposure

Junk yard find-the entire hydroboost system is from a mid nineties 1 ton work truck. I will eventually replace the rubber hoses with Braided lines when the funds permit.

Re: First Exposure

Welcome to the active forum. Love the stance and all the improvements. I'm curious, do you know what the hood ornament is from? Looking forward to your future updates!

Re: First Exposure

I don't know where the ornament came from. When I get the truck back together I'll take a couple of close ups if you are interested.

Re: First Exposure

welcome to the forum! I like everything about your truck. It looks like a truck that I would want to drive everyday. Not a show queen, but it has all the right stuff done in the right areas. I'm doing the same approach on my '64.

Very Kool!
Let us know how that efi works and what kind of mpg's you get with it. I'm looking to do the same with mine. all new under the skin, but old school kool on the outside. want to be able to drive it anywhere reliably.

Re: First Exposure

Nice setup. I have put the FAST ezefi on a few vehicles, you'll love it.
It's so quick and easy to install compared to a full standalone efi it feels like cheating haha. The fuel mileage will be the same as a properly tuned carburetor (But who really has one of those) since it's still a wet manifold setup and you have almost no control of the fuel map. On a programmable setup you can tune it leaner at very low loads and gain SOME mpg but it's still a sloppy wet manifold no matter how you mess with it. For good mileage you want a port injection setup.

Re: First Exposure

Thanks for the comments. The hydro-boost is great! A brake check at 20mph will give you a very nice cartoon knot on the forehead from hitting the windshield. I originally installed the hydro-boost on the I6 to be different. You rarely see a I6 with power steering much less a hydro-boost system. At the local events I got more comments about keeping it a I6 and the addition of the hydro-boost than anything else. With the V8 it will come in handy, the Comp roller cam "thumper" doesn't produce much vacuum for brake boosters.
I ran the motor today on the Fast System for the first time. Throttle response is unbelievable. Off to the Muffler shop in the morning.
