Gas sending unit sock question

Does it even need to be there? I mean really?

My gauge quit working and I think it's the sender, but the sock on my spare sender is pretty much shredded. Does anyone offer new ones?

Re: Gas sending unit sock question

The socks are your first trash screen that keep out the big stuff and the offer a larger inlet area to prevent point blockages. Surprising the things you see inside gas tanks, pens, nails, keys, plastic sheet and critter remains.

It just so happens that in thumbing through my new Truck Shop catalog I saw the very screens you seek on page 99. They have the sender floats too.

Thanks, Tim. I'll have to go ahead and get one.

I run one, first line of protection. The last one I got from my local chevy dealer about 5 years ago, they may still be available. Sorry, I don't have the part number anymore.
