Rear End Choices
My 51 came in parts, which didn't include a rear end. I was considering using an 8.8" out of a 94-03 explorer. They are only 1/2" shorter, geared well (commonly 3.73), most are limited slip, and all have disc brakes. Has anyone used one in their truck, and if so, what were the pros and cons. Any other thoughts about this idea, good or bad, are appreciated. I'm new to the car building thing, and this site has been wonderful.

Re: Rear End Choices
You have to consider the wheel bolt patern to match the front.

Re: Rear End Choices
I'm installing an 8.8 disc rear end out of a Lincoln mk7 into my 52 burb. It has a 3.27 gear. It measures out really close. I bought wheels in the 5on 4.5 pattern and measured my backspace. Be careful when you cut or grind on them, they have fairly thin wall axle tubes. Good luck.
