Gone to the Paint Shop

My Silverado went to the Paint Shop this morning...sob sob sob...
All the body work and prime and paint and sealer will cost me $3500.00 and I have a very straight truck, no rust at all. He is also putting in the new windshield and back window in I bought from LMC that was another $2000.00 + is parts and such. New bumpers and Carpet door panels. New steel Hood with 2" Scoop. Billet Grill, I removed all the chrome trim.
He is painting it "Pearl Black". which I never heard of. He said he would have everything done in 3 weeks.
Wish me Luck...

Here is a Before Shot.

Good luck! Honda had a black pearl in the mid-late 90's, it was a sharp color.

Re: Gone to the Paint Shop

It would have even been more money had your existing paint been severely oxidized such that it needed to be sanded down to bare metal.

Re: Gone to the Paint Shop

I need to get a Passenger door He said mine has to many dents in it, LMC want a $130.00 + $125.00 shipping. We don't have many junk yards in my area so I'll be looking for one today.

Re: Gone to the Paint Shop

man I would rather fix a dented door than get an lmc one. they are aftermarket, and pretty thin. I have aftermarket hood and fenders on mine and they dent if you sneeze nearby.
How bad is it?

Re: Gone to the Paint Shop

I had to order a new door and tailgate today and he found a 4" rust spot between the bed and passenger side of the cab. He resheetmetaled it.
It is one guy and his son doing all the work. No charge for and replacements of door and tailgate he is also going to paint the inside of the cab and install all the door panels.

Re: Gone to the Paint Shop

Well the Tailgate has arrived and the Door is sitting in Dothan Al. about 125 miles away. It took them 4 days to deliver the load you see in the picture above, it sat in the UPS warehouse waiting till they have a full load. That sucks... If it would fit into my new Avalon I would drive up and get it tomorrow. The rest of the truck is all primered and waiting for the door.

I told him what you said and he said he knows and is going to spray the inside with something to stiffen it up, I'm not sure what it is he uses but he said that it would be as good as a stock door.

Re: Gone to the Paint Shop

The rest of the body parts are at the painters and he said it would be ready next week. YAHOOOOO!!!!!!
Can't wait to see it, I haven't been over to his place so It will be a good surprise, His son has been taking pictures as the progress goes on, so that will be cool.
I ordered that vinyl Prep & Paint so he is painting the dash while the windshield is out, I hated the red color of the interior so everything will be Black & Dark Grey except the headliner since it was new and red already. I'll change it sometime next year.
I still need a good set of Mags and a Bed Pad. He is doing the inside of the bed in Gloss Black.
Next will be cleaning up the motor and fixing a few small leaks. And I still have to find a Vent window assembly for the drivers door.

Re: Gone to the Paint Shop

The painter had me come over and see if I like the color before he does the rest of the truck, he hasn't sanded and buffed it yet but I told him to go ahead it will look great. I've never seen Black Pearl but it looks like slate gray.

Re: Gone to the Paint Shop

The Tailgate arrived with 3 corners bent and the RH door had a small crease as you can see in the pictures, I asked him If he could just fix them instead of trying to get new ones sent. The New Hood came in perfect condition so that was one good thing.
