Distributor gear
Thanks to all of you who replied to my last post about vortecs. What I ended up with is a 96 bottom end with roller cam and tbi heads. Not exactly what I was hoping for but I had to match my wallet to the project
I have read many posts and it sounds like I need to change my dist. gear to a "melonized" gear because of the roller cam? I can find gears for .491 and .500 dist shafts but I have a .425 distributor shaft. (Removed the gear and mic'd the shaft)Can I use my existing gear? If not any guidance on where to get the correct one? When I'm all done I'll have a daily driver with a 96 bottom end with flat top pistons, tbi heads, Edelbrock Performer intake, Ultimate Mods to the TBI, Headers to true duals, and a TbiChips chip. And if I don't run out of cash - an electric radiator fan. |

Re: Distributor gear
The pn for the .428" gear is 19052845
The old PN for the pin is 456652 About $50 with new pin. Description Hardened distributor gear for small cap- fuel injection distributors with external coil and small shaft- .428". Melonized coating will work with steel roller cams. |
