Two cluncks, now hot brakes?
After my morning class today I took my truck to run some errands. When I got to my last stop I pumped the brakes a couple times after I shut it off because they had seemed a little soft. When I came back out and drove off, as soon as I stepped on the brakes I heard a clunk and then it slowed down. Next time I applied the brakes I heard the same clunk, then it slowed down. After that it acted like the brakes were still applied after I let up off the pedal. I had to accelerate more than usual to get it to move, plus now it pulls to the right pretty bad. When I got back to my parking lot, I got out and the right front drum smelled like hot brakes. Did something just come apart, or what?
Any suggestions would be appreciated, as this is my daily driver while I'm in college.

Re: Two cluncks, now hot brakes?
sounds like something broke in there time to tear down for a inspection/repair. It's probably a spring or retaining pin

Excellent. That's what I was hoping for. I'd really rather fix a spring than have to replace everything.

You won't know for sure until you check it out...

Before you pull the tire off to get at the brakes, grab the tire at the top and bottom and see if there's any play. You might have a bad wheel bearing. And spin the tire to listen for noises.

Re: Two cluncks, now hot brakes?
if i found one broken spring i'd replace everything // it is cheap compared to the cost of the hospital
