Peterbuilts can't Jump Washouts

Well this morning at 6:09, I drove across a 12ft. span of asphalt at 50mph, that had washed out underneath. Bent rims, tore out the airbags off the tractor and trailer. Broke 4 shock absorbers on the drive axles and bogies. Bent the frame on the truck and trailer.
4 hrs. of recovery work to get the mess off the highway and towed to their shop.
And now the negative part of the day, he won't sell this cab to me! 1967 Bummer.

Same handles as the light duty's

GMC dash Air Gauge

Tach, he says there's a 600+ cubic inch gas motor in it.

Sought after emergency setup

Also had a trashed 55-66 longbox stepside inverted on a storage trailer.

Re: Peterbuilts can't Jump Washouts

The Peterbuilt and Utility trailer look like they would, if you aired out the suspension. No cosmetic damage.

The cabover would be cool mounted on a 1 ton dually frame. Like I need another project.

Glad you are OK. Washouts suck! That cab would be nice on a new project. If you don't do --- who will?

I believe that's a siren mount under the windshield.

I sat in the drivers seat, man not much protection between you and whatever you hit, but a great view of the road in front of you.

If it is 600+ then it is more than likely the GMC 637 V8. That would be so cool to hear run.

No, they have only 1 per cylinder. Look identical to the GMC only V6's just with two more cylinders on the back.

Re: Peterbuilts can't Jump Washouts

Glad you're OK......sounds like you're going to be there a while for repairs of that extent.

Now that you mentioned it, I think we're going to have to see some pics of that 600+CI gas engine
