'79 K20 Rusty Spring Hangers

The front hangers for the rear springs on my K20 are basically gone. A common problem I guess. The local junkyard is picked over, some that are somewhat better than mine, but none I would call good. LMC offers replacements for $112.95 each. Anybody else that you know of? If anyone has bought these, did they fit OK? Any other advice on dealing with this would be appreciated. The hangers on my truck come down about 7" below the frame at the lowest point. It is a Camper Special with a full floater. I'm hoping there are just two types of hangers--2wd and 4wd. But I have run into issues with this truck before where it is sort of an oddball 3/4-1 ton hybrid. I may post a picture later for it's comedy value if I work up the nerve to crawl under there again with a camera.

Browse through the classies, someone's always parting something.
That said, I got a set about 6 yrs ago from the local dealership. (for a '73 K-20)
They weren't cheap, but I didn't have to worry about yearly safety inspections.
Building my own was a whole bunch of red tape.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Took the bed off. The rust is somehow even worse than this pic makes it look, believe it or not.

I have a fleetside 3500 in the bone yard that has perfect hangers. Just let me know which ones you need and you can have them for the price of shipping them from Colorado. A guy is coming for the rear end soon and then I can have my boy cut them out for you. It may take him a month or so to come and get the rear axle but shouldn't be any longer than that. A few swipes with the torch and they are on their way. Let me know if you want them. We're moving come next summer and I need to move alot of the parts vehicles I have for the shop and get them gone so I would rather give the hangers to you than have them go for scrape.

Last time I knew the LMC hangers were still OEM GM Hangers, if you do some shopping you may be able to find new GM hangers for about $80 each. The Oem hangers will fit just like the old ones, I'm not sure if there is any aftermarket hangers available, and what the quality is.

Re: '79 K20 Rusty Spring Hangers

Zac, sorry to jump your thread, but i'm in the exact same situation: '76 K20 camper special with rusted front of rear hangers. if you're not interested in Bonanza's offer, i'd like to take him up on it - assuming they are the right ones and haven't been taken yet... what say ye? - mark
