Would you participate in a part by part perspective?

I was thinking it might be interesting to go part by part of the most popular parts that are questioned on a regular basis.

We have some extremely experienced and observant guys who can contribute to the particular part's thread success.

Threads of the past can be linked into the part's thread.

The part's thread would try to cover the whole perspective of it's origin, material, finishes, measurements, variations and whatever else we can think of.

One of the important factors would be in the title as there is more than one way to describe certain parts at times which searches do not always find.

markeb01 Sun Tach Retrospective comes to mind as an example.

1963c-10 is currently working on Painted Hubcap colors and we have discussed materials in the construction of a hubcap in another thread, another thread on applications, yet another thread on repairs and so on.

Pictures would be a great asset, as usual, for guys like myself who can't read that well.

Would this be different than the FAQ thread?

Re: Would you participate in a part by part perspective?

If the threads prove to be helpful and informative they could be added to the FAQ section. Scattered threads would simply get lost in the shuffle.

I`ve tried to keep all the heater threads linked to Jonzcustomshop original thread, so is this what we are trying to accomplish..?

Re: Would you participate in a part by part perspective?

And to contribute to trying to idex a thread to make a large thread more readible by guiding the reader to a specific post, on a particular point, about the part. The first post would be an index page. Links would be indicated if the subject had been covered before.

For example

Title: Bumpers, front and rear

Bumper, Front

Photos: Posts 01-04-06
Fasteners: Posts 02-07 Links
Accessories: Post 22
Finishes:
Painted:
Primer:
Chrome:
Other:
Applications:
Restoration:
Modifications:
Dimensions:
Bracketry:
Location:
Part Numbers:
Chevrolet VS GMC:
other subject additions added as we go along.

Bumper, Rear

Same breakdown as above + other subject additions added as we go along.

If we could create a standardized subject list it would expand our train of thought to looking at all aspects of the part instead of a specific point. The list would be a sort of thread expander in that although one member might not have information on finishes they would want to contribute on bracketry etcetera.

I think this a neat idea. I'm pretty sure I will have no valuable info to add, but would love to see and study it nonetheless.

Re: Would you participate in a part by part perspective?

Ive got a factory 1963 chevrolet truck preliminary specifications book that has tons of resource material in it. Ive been working on all the option codes for the options on my truck to make a new "build sheet" for the truck. This book has almost all the 63 option numbers and codes for the entire 63 line up including R10 (2 models), c10 (11 models), k10 (9 models), p10 (2 models), c20 (6 models), k20 (3models), p20 (6 models), c30special (7 models), c30 (7 models), p30 (6 models), c50 (14 models), l50 (4 models), s50 (1 model), c60s (11 models), d60s (5 models), l60s (5 models), t60s (4 models), c60 (11 models), d60 (5 models), l60 (5 models), s60 (4 models), t60 (4 models), c60h (11 models), d60h (5 models), l60h (5 models), s60h (2 models), t60h (4 models), c80 (5 models), e80 (2 models), l80 (3 models), m80 (3 models), t80 (4 models) and u80 (2 models) for a total of 178 model trucks that year. This info needs to get out there as i think the codes and info will intrest alot of people. Heres a few of the pages...there are diagrams and specs/dimensions. It was designed to assist in the taking of initial orders for the 63 line up in advance of production.

Theres 71 pages worth of info that could be scanned in this one book alone. I have around 15-20 other items also 63 related. And some 1960 also.

I think you'd be surprised how much you can contribute. Pictures and measurements of the part in study would be helpful.

1963c-10, I have that book, but mine was colored in by the salesman or his kid. All the truck line drawings are colored in different paint patterns. I was trying to figure out how to get rid of the color but your book is Virgin so we can use yours.
