Front-end out of whack - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

We have an 87 GMC short/wide. After putting on large wheels and tires-noticed one tire is closer to the fender than the other. Took it to the frame shop, put it on the laser machine-frame is straight. Man said there is not enough play to adjust the cab and fenders. Whats up here? Anyone else had this problem?

Nope. Good idea, though. I went out and measured to be sure. I'm new to these trucks and wonder about the A-arms and alignment (all those shims and stuff). Something must be wrong there, although there is no evidence of damage.

I have found some alignment shops don't know how to properly align a front end. I bet you have more shims behind the upper control arm on one side than you do the other. A lot of front end guys don't take the time to do it right. If done right, they will have close to the sam shims, side to side.

Just guessing.

Thanks, That's a good idea. I'll ask the Street-Rod and early pick-up guys who's the best in town.
