What's everybody do for exhaust pipes on 250 l6 engines?

So what do you do for exhaust pipes on your stock manifold 250 six cylinder engine? Auto parts store carry pipes with the right bends and you make your own? Take it to the closest a shop and pay them? Anybody sell pre bent pipes made for our trucks?

What's a fair price for a shop to run a 2" straight pipe from the manifold to about the middle of the bed?

I got my dual exhaust done for $350. Dual Flowmaster 40 series and 2 1/4 inch pipes. Mufflers under the cab and 6 inch long pipes after the mufflers. You can see my build thread for a vid on the exhaust.

Thanks TJ. That's good info to get me started. Think it would be reasonable to cut that price in half since I only need one pipe done instead of duals? Or am I dreamin?

For the factory 230/250 just get the walker head pipe, its for a long bed, shorten it in the middle with a coupler to fit a short bed.

Walker also sales the tail pipe, comes out at the DS rear corner like its supposed to.

Any muffler ya like inbetween, I used a 25" thrush.

Orellies carries all the pipes, mufflers, clamps and couplers ya need.

See the installation on my 65 in the Official John Lee Jr thread. I believe the entire system was under $200 with everything spankey new.

PS the new walker headpipes for these motors are a tulip fitting, no exhaust manifold doughnut required.

Re: What's everybody do for exhaust pipes on 250 l6 engines?

I think all the walker part numbers are in the thread, I'm sure the head pipe number is. Ye'll have to order the headpipe and tail pipe but the rest is usually on the shelf. The 25" thrush is a close fit on the short bed, I coulda chopped about 1 more inch outta the head pipe or used a shorter muffler...But the long glass pack is quite mello and doesn't run me outta the cab at highway speeds like a shortie will.

Enjoy.

I've found a factory-style muffler that can be as cheap as $30. Fits perfectly. I'll post the PN tomorrow if you like.
