C-Notch and shocks needed? Adjustable tracking bar too?
Just installed a set of 4" drop coil springs in the rear of my 70 LWB, the shocks I bought from Amazon don't fit so I need advice on which shocks to buy, LMC has drop shocks for $50 each.
Do I really need to C-Notch the frame with a 4" drop? My truck has the auxiliary leaf springs and I'm thinking this will be enough? Last question, tried to install an adjustable tracking bar after the drop springs and the bar seems to be about 2" too long, the axle seems to be aligned correctly, do I need the adjustable tracking arm? Thanks |

no u do not need a c notch for 4" drop springs// the shock relotation kit is worth the effort for proper shock angle// most vendors carry a selection of drop shocks for that application// adjustable panhard is good for centering the rear in the proper location
those overload leaf springs might not allow the coils to settle for the full drop effect/// i always got rid of them on dropped trucks i had

Thanks Cdowns, I didn't measure the axle to frame before I lowered it, how/where do I measure from to know my axle is centered?

sidewall of tire to the frame rail// measurement should b the same driver and passenger side

I have the helper springs too, was wondering if anyone ever altered them so you could leave them on with drop springs for hauling.
I thought if you cut a metal wedge and drilled a hole in the middle for the bolt it would change the angle and raise the end of the helper spring...just a thought.

Most likely you got the wrong adjustable trac bar. I ordered mine from CPP and they failed to tell me ahead of time that they sell a 24" and a 27" bar, so I ended up getting the wrong one.
