I am seeing a lot of rust. Am sure the seller started with a price he could reduce.

Remember, most body shops make their money on insurance repair. If you take your truck to them it's going to cost from 75.00 to 150.00 per hour and every single insurance job that comes into that shop will bump you back to the end of the line. In short, that's where the term "paint jail" comes from. So, if you can't do the rust repair yourself, spend more for a rust free truck and, in the long run, it will cost you less in dollars and frustration. I would not give that guy 3200.00 for that truck. For me, it's a $1200.00 take it or leave it kind of truck. |

Welcome to the board, from Brookings!
What are your plans with it? If you plan to drive the wheels off it as is then I would shoot for $2,000 or so. If you plan to fix it up I would pass no matter what the price. That's a ton of body work between the dents and rust. This picture doesn't tell us much but this might be a better start for you: http://fargo.craigslist.org/cto/4019819082.html

Re: What do you think its worth? 1972 shortbox
I was thinking of taking 1200-1500 cash with me if I took the time to look at it. I do have heavy background in welding but not body work. Thanks for the reply and great advice

I think these guys are right: it's better to pay more up front for no rust than to pay a lot more later for fixing rust.
So that is where I am: my truck has a lot of rust! |
