Bench seat hardware(cable)

Does' anybody know where to find the hardware for a bench seat for 71 gmc? Bought this truck and that's one of the things missing. Is there a cable or wire that goes from one side to the other? Can I use any old piece of wire? Need to pull one of you guys over with the same truck and look under there to see what I really need.

Thanks for any input
Craig

It's a solid rod from one side to the other from the factory.
You could use a cable if you want to but you will need to add an adjuster so you can get the length perfect.

Re: Bench seat hardware(cable)

I never realized this was supposed to have a solid rod! Mine had a cable from since when I first got it and it worked just fine. Like Brian said though you will need to put a clamp on the cable though and I would think that it would work just fine.

Re: Bench seat hardware(cable)

I am in need of all of the hardware that runs from the driver's side to the passenger side including the spring and clamp that sticks through the passenger side. The only thing I actually have is the arm on the driver's side. Does anyone sell this hardware?

I don't know about any companies but I've got nearly all of those parts kicking around that i pulled off of various seats. PM me if your interested. I've also got an extra set of seat mount brackets. I got my current seat from my neighbor and he's got 4-5 of these old trucks in his personal junk yard and he let me go through them to find my seat.

I'm not exactly sure which parts I need. The handle is there and two metal pieces that have notches in them kinda like teeth. Lets make a deal if you've got the right parts. Let me know if yer interested in shipping them and all that stuff
