I want to see seperate 47- 55 S1 and 55 S2-59 Boards

It would be nice to not have to hunt through all the post to see the year trucks I'm interested in.

Ha ha, We've had this discussion....in fact, I asked why this board is the only one that mixes two eras of trucks? I posted a thread on it, if you'd done a search you'd have found it.

Most here seem to like them being together. I've grown to not mind though I WISH guys that are asking very era-specific questions would prefix their thread title with "TF" or "AD". But no one does it.

Re: I want to see seperate 47- 55 S1 and 55 S2-59 Boards

I would love to see it split! I really don't like to wade through the first series post to find the relevant ones to my desired era. I even posted the question to the moderator over a month and a half ago without any response. I understand change requires work, but I certainly would like to see it get done!

Re: I want to see seperate 47- 55 S1 and 55 S2-59 Boards

I actually like the fact that both generations are together. There are guys that comment across the line, whether its AD or TF, and I find that valuable. I also get ideas from both generations, on issues to look out for and basic ideas on the direction i want to take my truck. Granted, we need to be more descriptive in the title of posts that deal with pinpoint issues of a specific generation. With that being said...

'Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it." -Samuel Johnson

If that doesn't describe our site, i don't know what does...

Combined.
Note the series in the title, if you want.

This board is a valuable pool of knowledge.
I have learned much, since joining before I owned a truck and not even knowing
what an AD and TF stood for.

Re: I want to see seperate 47- 55 S1 and 55 S2-59 Boards

combined is fine with me, I grew up with both. After you are on here a while you get to know who are AD or TF guys if it is not in the avatar or name. The trucks are similar enough that most general questions pretain to both. If you are significantly updating and rodding the truck chassic and running gear info can pertain to both too. Go over to other car boards (like vintagemustangs) they have ALL years lumped together....

I have one of each kind of truck, so this works ok for me. But I never have understood why all the other series are separate, and these are not.

I've been watching so many builds of each style and gotten to "know" enough of the members that I'd just end up having to follow both boards anyway if they were split out

Re: I want to see seperate 47- 55 S1 and 55 S2-59 Boards

I like the combined because I like both styles of trucks.
You learn who has what trucks and where their interests lie when you have been on here as long as a lot of the guys.

I'll agree 100 % that it would help if guys post what truck they are working on when they pose a question. The AD guys are thinking AD truck and the Task Force guys automatically think Task force and then you go hunting to see if the guy has his truck listed in his profile and look for other threads he has started to see what the hay he is working on. This is probably one of the best boards going for giving correct and proper answers to guy's questions no matter how basic the questions are or how complicated they are. We have a number of high knowledge folks plus those of us who have pretty serious resource libraries of our own

I enjoy everyone's trucks even if it sounds like I don't some times when I question certain things that seem a bit too faddish to me. If the build style isn't what I like I usually look to the quality of the build, the fit and finish and attention to detail and some of the Task Force brigade have that in Aces. That's not to say that we don't have some of the finest AD trucks in the land and other lands to boot. That little white truck from Rome can teach anyone things about fit, finish and detail no matter how good of a builder a guy thinks he is.

i don't know ad trucks as well as tf trucks and usually don't comment on technical aspects of ad builds.
but i sure do voice my opinion, aka technical expertise, in the tf builds

10 - 2 opposed to splitting the boards so far.

Good question. But, it's probably better this way for now.
If you look at the 99-06 area and the 07+ area, there's maybe one post a day on each. Not sure why those areas are separate, but we're probably better off the way we are here for now. At least there's a good bit of traffic here, and hey.... you make new friends with AD's and TF's.

Split them absolutely. Drives me nuts.

Makes no sense at all to keep them together even if a person has one of each.

AD - Split them out. There are plenty in each series on this board to carry each. My son and wife say split it too. add 3 votes to split.

That would be acceptable if everyone did that. But that will never happen so it's not acceptable. It's really an unnecessary nuisance to have them combined.

Re: I want to see seperate 47- 55 S1 and 55 S2-59 Boards

So far in all of the post that support keeping the two era's together, I have not really seen any objective reasons to not split them up. Making new friends isn't the reason I come to the forum/board, I come for specific answers and to find parts to help my builds. Inconvenient to look at two separate boards when watching different builds, waaah. I have vehicles in three different sections and have no trouble hopping around. The biggest pain for me is the silly one minute delay for multiple searches, God forbid you don't spell something right?

It really comes down to change and change is hard. I became a premium member for "premium services" and I believe it is time to split it up.

Re: I want to see seperate 47- 55 S1 and 55 S2-59 Boards

At one point they were split, if i remember correctly liz stated the reason for combining the two was for lack of traffic.
I have one TF truck and two 73-87's and one 01' so i skip all over the place already.
If they do split up ill lurk the AD guys anyway. Hmmm maybe i need to sell the wagon and get an AD burb.
One more vote to split.
