gear oil capacities
hi, i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the capacities for gear oil in a rockwood t221 t-case, muncie sm465/420 (not sure which one i have yet, probably 465) and the front and rear diff. i am looking to replace all the oils and need to know how much to buy. on a side note what is the best way to flush both the transmission and transfer case without wasting too much gear oil? any input helps! thanks everyone!

If you are going to change everything, just buy a 5 gallon pail of 75/90 along with a pump. It will probably be cheaper in the long run and much easier to put in. The 465 alone will hold a gallon, front and rear diffs will be 2-3 quarts each along with the t-case. As far as flushing, not really a need, just drain and refill

I don't know, if you've seen how thick this oil is in my transfer case you might think differently. Besides I want out with as much old as I came and in with the new.

OK, so if that is the case, the only real way is to drain and refill, then drive it until it gets hot then drain and refill again. Repeat as necessary.

Yeah that's what I thought, but I was hoping not to use too much good oil to do it but if that is what I have to do then that's what I have to do.
