As the title says it I want to know some of the differences threw the years from 73 to 87 like how 73s have no drip rails

Thanks for post that Randy. It offers a good visual of the changes. It has been pointed out in tha past that its not 100% accurate but we all agree that its still a great reference pic.

Re: The minor differences threw out the years

I'm just finishing a cab swap on my '78 with an 80's cab and I'm finding a lot of small (and frustrating differences:

80's dome light is smaller
Wiper mount bolt spacing is different
Bezel is obviously different
Dash sheet metal is different

Can't think of anything else right now but putting all this 70's stuff on an 80's cab it's definitely slowing me down!

http://brochures.slosh.com/

Cruising thru all the old sales literature and getting the best possible look at the photos, the front hood thing did start in 79 and was on the 80's as well.

My '83 has the early dome light, I hate it and I wish it was the festoon bulb style. The dome light changed in '84/'85 to the festoon style from bayonet.

K
I'm losing my memory.

In my defense, I was more focused on the end date (1980) than the beginning...

I thought my 84 and 85 dome lights were different but is built into the cargo lamp and one is not. One is recessed in the cab and the other mounts over the metal. Also the burgandy vinyl seat material is a different shade than my 85 burgandy cloth seat material and as far as I know they are both factory matereials.

Re: The minor differences threw out the years

Appears I have the "detailed" hood on my 73' . It is an OEM but may be , according to this thread, from a donor rig for the old one bending at some point like most do over time as hinges go south. As long as the main body panels are OEM i really don't care. I'm not driving a queen show truck around and don't have any plans on ruining this rig with a bunch of stuff I would be afraid to get dirt on.
