Yep, Another header question.

Here's what I'm dealing with:

Ive read a few header threads and still am not quite clear.

I want long tube headers but would like the collector to be above the bottom of the framerail so i can tuck my exhaust up and run it through the rear crossmember. I've heard Camaro headers but which one? any options out there?

Re: Yep, Another header question.

I used 72 hooker chevelle headers on my big block. They tucked in the frame nice.

Re: Yep, Another header question.

You could possiblr use small block Chevelle headers, which should be above the bottom of the frame, However those will not work if you still have the original bellhousing crossmember.

Re: Yep, Another header question.

CaptainFab,

Thanks, I do not have the original crossmember. My truck has a 700r4 trans with a tailshaft crossmember.

I'll look into those..

Re: Yep, Another header question.

OK, I picked up a set of 69 camaro headers from a buddy yesterday so we could see if they would tuck up above the bottom of the frame on my 66 c10.
Before I start dismantling my truck I would like to ask if some one has a set of long tube headers for a 60-66 V8 truck hanging around could I get a measurement just to see what the over all height is.

I stood the header up against a stool and measure from the ground up to the bolt hole at the #2 cylinder on the passenger side header. I came up with 16 11/16". Thanks for the help guys...

Looks like thats what I'm gonna have to do , I can't believe no one has a set of truck headers hanging around that can take a minute and grab a measurement for me....

Re: Yep, Another header question.

ok, so for the last hour I have been cross referencing threads and found this statement: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...28&postcount=8
that led me to this post: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=281 this make reference to using 68-71 Camaro headers.

I believe they will work.
