What type of hose clamps from factory 66 327 bypass hose?
I believe they could have been the half clamp style but maybe even a tower clamp? I have only seen screw clamps on the few I've seen. I know the heater hose connections used the wire clamps and the metal upper hose used tower clamps. Please let me know I need to come up with a pair and they appear to have to work on a 1.5 hose for the thermostat to water pump GM bypass hose. Thanks

Re: What type of hose clamps from factory 66 327 bypass hose?
Witteck branded tower clamps is what is what the upper radiator hose had on mine. Corvettes in the 60's have this same style clamps and the Vette places sell them in sets. Looks like the bypass hose on them was that half clamp style with the screw and square nut on the side maybe around a #14 style of Witteck clamp? May have to order a kit just to get the two bypass hose clamps. Anyone have a picture of an original survivor 65-66 327 truck engine?

Re: What type of hose clamps from factory 66 327 bypass hose?
I belive they originally used the tower clamps on that bypass hose.
This is a pic I took of a local farmer's C60 with a fairly original 327. Some of the hose clamps are worm gear type replacements but there is one original looking tower clamp left on the bypass hose. And here is another pic that I saved for reference from an old ebay listing of a 327 that was pulled from a 65 or 66 C60. It appears to have tower clamps on the bypass hoses. Although both of these examples are of the medium duty version with the dual bypass hoses, I have a feeling that the single bypass hose on the 10-30 series truck 327's would use the same style clamps. |

While we're on the subject of the 327 bypass hose, does anyone know if the bypass hole that connects the water pump to the passenger side head was left open? Or was it blocked off on these engines? |

Re: What type of hose clamps from factory 66 327 bypass hose?
I went ahead and ordered 2 Wittek bypass hose clamps that according to the Corvette vendors is correct for 63-68 GM cars and trucks with bypass hose. They show on the Vette in 65=66 the red color wire clamps on the 3/4 heater hose ends, the gold wire clamps on the 5/8ths heater hose ends, the side screw/nut Wittek brand bypass hose clamps one both ends and then the Wittek brand tower clamps on the radiator hoses. I think that should be right but if not it will be NCRS correct anyway. Thanks for all the assistance here and pictures.

Re: What type of hose clamps from factory 66 327 bypass hose?
This is the ebay link for the bypass hose clamps I bought for my 327 PU. I am on my way out of town for the big auction now so I will post pictures when I get the clamps and install the hose later next week.
