SM -465 Shifter Removal ?
I know that you are supposed to push down and turn it counterclockwise , but I need a photo of what you push down ! I can't seem to figure this one out ? Thanks for the help !

I don't have a photo, but you push down and turn the stamped steel retainer (that the shifter sticks up through).
If you look at the case you will see a cast iron tower (part of the trans case); there are two split pins in that tower. The goal is to push down on that steel retainer (it is spring loaded "up") and rotate to disengage the slots in the retainer from those split pins. K

Some penetrating oil around the retainer won't hurt anything. They get gunk and grime built up over the years.

Thanks a lot guy's that picture explains it perfectly ! I can see how it is held in now! Also I learned that this trans loves 50W Mobil 1 better then 80 /90 gear oil ? If you google SM465 you get all sorts of conflicting info on lubrication type for it and the NP-205 ? Thanks Again.....
