fan shroud seal

I am installing an original fan shroud and was wondering is there a seal that is supposed to go in between the shroud and the radiator?

Re: fan shroud seal

Yes, The rubber strips that run vertically up the sides stapled to the metal pieces? LMC/Classic/etc all carry them. Also, there is the hood to radiator seal connected to the hood, and i THINK another set of rubber up there somewhere as well.

Re: fan shroud seal

I just redid my side shrouds....I kept my original rubbers as they were in such good shape. You will have to make staples for the seals. I used a heavy gauge baling wire. I can post some pictures tomorrow if needed.

Re: fan shroud seal

Someone here used staples from the flower shop, i picked up two boxes of 50 staples for $1.99 per box, and they are easier to work with than the staples you get with new rubbers.

They are near where the fake flowers and Styrofoam chunks are for arranging fake flowers. While you are there, they carry the krylon flat light green paint that is good for inside gauge clusters and the silver paint pens that are good for doing the lines around some factory dash bezels.

Re: fan shroud seal

I'd like to see those pictures as well 1963c-10. I'm in the middle of adding the missing shroud extensions and putting on a new shroud. I have the new rubber seals and removed the staples from the extensions so I see how it goes but a good picture would give me confidence.

Re: fan shroud seal

Heres a few pics, I'm still waiting on a few more to upload. Here is a pic of an OEM seal and unrestored set also for reference.

Re: fan shroud seal

Thanks!

What it the 3rd piece in the bottom right photo? I don't have that but I do have a 3rd rubber that I didn't know where it went, guess I do now!

Re: fan shroud seal

I don't have it either. I only have the two side pieces as my truck came w/a 6cyl and Im converting to a big block v8. Im still waiting on my front pics of the shroud seals to load. I may have to redo them when I get home. I took some good pics of the fronts also. The last pic I posted above is not mine, just trying to show an unmolested pair in original shape.

Although just by looking at the pics, you can see staples in the 3rd long piece, so I believe you are correct on the 3rd seal.

Re: fan shroud seal

This is profound but I'm guessing the 3rd piece/seal goes across the top or bottom.

I also have the "lower splashpan to radiator seal" that I need to figure out how it goes as well.

here are the two seal sets I purchased from Classic...
