most HP with regular pump gas?

What's the most HP can you get and still use regular pump gas, not the highest grade at the pumps? Also, what set up would allow this?

Sorry, small block 350. Is it possible to get near the 400hp range and use regular not premium

Yes, 9 to 1 compression, do not get aggressive with your timing, buy a very good set of cyl heads with a matching cam/ intake and 400 hp is a achievable with a 350 on regular (87) gas.

Car Craft magazine did a article years ago called agent 87 on how to build higher hp motor while still using 87. I would read it as it discusses the realities of it. Although a bit dated the general info still holds true. I built a comparable motor to what they described, but with stock parts following the formula.

It was about 300 hp, but the torque under the curve was amazing for what it was.

I just dynoed my ls1 in my truck today. It's 11.7:1 runs on 93 octane and made 372 hp and 362 tq at the tires through a 4l60 trans. It has a baby cam, with just a tiny amount of cleanup work done to the bowls otherwise stock exhaust manifolds, stock truck intake and tb, with a cai and exhaust and I tuned it myself. I regularly knock down around 18-19 mpg mixed driving. a little better cam, some headers, and a better intake it will easily make 420-430 rwhp on 93. I would guess around 400-410 if I put it on 87..

There's people making 1000+ hp with methanol injection on pump gas engines. It's really all in the setup

It all depends how much work you wanna put in. My buddy was making around 1,500 horsepower on pump gas.
