My 87 k10 with an almost stock 350 tbi has a 6 inch lift and 35 inch bfg's with 3.42 gearing. Even with the rear locker you can just floor it at 10 mph and have both tires spinning on dry asphalt until it's time to shift. I thought it's supposed to be an undergeared dog? I was thinking about regearing but I shouldn't have to if I can light up 35s without a problem. Any opinions?

Well I'm turning 16 really soon and it's gonna be my first car, so it'll be my dd getting me to work and school but I also wanna screw around a little off-road, not much

You've got a good combination for daily drivin with tbi and the "best" gears of low and high... I wouldn't change much but if you go bigger tires you'll wana regear it to 4.10's or at least 3.73's.

Thanks, I also thought it was pretty decent except everybody was telling me the 35 inch tires with the 3.42 rear would be terrible, I do have the sm465 though

Starting in first or second gear? My granny low trucks, 1st was rarely used.
You could put a load in the bed also. It's a truck, back end is relatively light, and the tires may just be "floating".

If the gearing works for you, run it. You may be disappointed if doing any heavy hauling or pulling your buddy out of a mud hole. I'd put a load in the bed and try again before planning a gear change.

It was in second but I was just using the spinning as an example for people that think it'd be a dog. I don't plan on towing much though, maybe just a small trailer with a fourwheeler but that's it. I think I'll just leave the gearing the same unless I decide to go 37s. I'll have to put some weight in the bed before winter though so it goes half decent
