how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

so i just started driving my 67 chevy k10 and so far i have been offered cash for it twice. of course the truck is worth way to much to me to sell it, so ive turned down every offer. i was just wondering has this ever happened to you, and how many times if so?

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

I have had several asked if it was for sale.

I have had two separate occasions when I had a real buyer making me a real offer specially the last one we were 2k dollars away from making a deal.

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

Never been offered cash.Maybe it's the way I go about pricing it.I tell them to start counting cash into my hand and when they're done,I'll either take them for a ride or give them the keys.If they pay what I would take for it,they're foolish.

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

One time, at the Charlotte autofair right after it was done in like 07 or 08. A couple guys from Canada offered me 8 or 9K at the time, should have taken it. They had an empty trailer and were ready to buy. That was the one and only time in the 17 years I've owned it.

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

If anyone sees it, I usually get a "call me if you ever sell it!" I was offered $5,000 back when I was 18. That was in 1993, when 5K was worth more than it is now.

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

Before I spiffied up my truck last fall I would get notes left regularly at the lumber yard, grocery store, etc, "If you ever want to sell this truck call me at ........" Ever since I painted it, not one note. I do get the scammers stopping by the house and asking about the truck or one of my vettes, the 5 cents on the dollars guys.

I had a guy follow me from show to show for two years wanting to buy my fleetside truck. He finally made it up to a number I would take so now that one is his and I used the proceeds to build my stepside.

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

I've been offered cash for my 67-72 trucks about seven times. This is why I'm on my 8th truck!

Seriously, I just tell them "Sure it's for sale, make me an offer". The ones who were serious got to be the next owner. Hey, they made a LOT of 'em..

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

I've been insulted a time or 2. Like the time in 1998 or so when I was offered $800 for it. That was right after it had a fresh Olds dropped in. I wanted to say bad words to him.

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

Lots. They want to know how much to buy , I used to ask how much they wanted to pay , as they were buying , I'm not selling...turns into a s**T show, so I just say 18K for my tired 68 swb , that usually ends the conversation.

I sold my 1973 Plymouth today, and the buyer who showed up at my house seemed more interested in buying the truck instead!

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

It's happened a few times in the last year. Not interested. I've spent too much time and effort working on it. It's funny though. Just last week, someone left a note on my Audi, asking if I'd like to sell it. That's a first for me with a newer type vehicle.

All the time, and like DGulliver said, I've taken a bunch of those offers. I was actually asked to price my '68 today. I declined to make a price on it - he may have said "Yes!" - LOL

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

Just a few weeks ago, a tourist from Toronto on vacation, pulled in beside me at the local In N Out, and asked if my truck was for sale.
He was down here specifically looking for west coast vehicles.
I said no, but he was interested in looking it over anyway.

Within 5 minutes, he'd offered 2, 3, 4, then 5 thousand for it.
I was surprised he'd go that high, and more surprised I turned it down..

It's just a 72 C20, but it's a well optioned Highlander, but I've never had this rust free of a truck, and I plan on restoring it eventually.

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

The only time I've been willing to sell anything is when there's a for sale sign on it. I'm not an "Everything's for sale" guy. So,I've had people ask on probably everything I've owned and I reply in a way that makes clear I'm very happy with it. They may say,"Cash money!",to which I reply,"Always",then carry on

Re: how many times has someone offered cash for your truck?

We've had several askers on Yeller- three that were serious. One offered $8500 and was told that wouldn't touch it. (Sadly, it really wouldn't!) It's immaterial, it was built by me for my dad and will go to his grandson after a few years of my stewardship. I really need to get a shop built.

Oddly, I've had several serious offers on my 87 beateriffic truck. I like it and the Kid wants it. I'll probably wind up selling it to him for half price, 'cuz I told him if he keeps his nose clean, I'd match the money on his first car.

I will sell anything I build to drive, and fast, like in a blink. Then move on to another cool project, diversity is fun and exciting. just sold my 81 1ton for $17,000.. Cheap but gone.

In the beginning, NONE.
but since I've added the rims, air ride, new interior, and other toys, at least once every couple months.
