Question on Guages

I recently bought a 1968 GMC Custom C2500 PU. It has a tach in the center of the large speedometer on the left and large gas gauge on the right. On the bottom is spaces for 2 smaller gauges on either side of the steering wheel. The small, lower gauge just to the right of the steering wheel is blank. Was a clock an option for that space?

Also, the truck has 396 V-8 badges on the lower front fenders. These were typically seen on Chevy vehicles. Are they stock, or were they added?

Thanks for your help. I'm new on the forum and enjoying all the information.

Re: Question on Guages

I believe it's a vaccum gauge option.

Talking Re: Question on Guages

No clock in these years from factory. The stock opening on the bigger trucks had a vacume gauge in that spot. U can make a newer clock work though if u want. Here is my setup with Tach, speed warning buzzer and clock in the dash.

Took the dash out and put all new Speed Hut gauges in it now. This one is on the shelf in the garage.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Question on Guages

Thanks or the info. I had a '67 SS Chevy with a vacuum gauge (but no tach). Always considered it a bit useless; recall the owners manual linked it to fuel economy...

Re: Question on Guages

The vacuum guage helps when finding optimum mileage. 14psi I believe is the perfect optimum psi to be at. When adjusting timing it can help to see how close to that number it can get as well. It's old school tech but still helpful.
