need quick answer on dist.

its my 72 trying to bring it to life after 15 years of storage. it still has the points distributor, i need to now how many,and what color wires go where on the coil. does the one from the dist. go to the - side or the + side i also see a green wire dangling not sure if that even goes to the dist. what about the yellow. if someomne can look at theres and maybe tell me how many wires are connected to the + side and how many are connected to the - side . hei will com down the road for any body that wants to rip on points. thanx for the help.

The black from the distributor goes to the - side of the coil.

The red from the starter go to the + side of the coil. There's also a yellow wire that splits from a white fabric covered wire at the top of the firewall: 1/2 goes to the same terminal as the red on the starter, and the other 1/2 goes to the + side of the coil along with the red wire from the starter.

I'd buy some new points by the way. Those condensors have a way of getting "old" when they've sat for a while. In fact for about $40 you can get new points, rotor, cap, wires and plugs for a chevy block at any parts store. You'd be pretty damn sure to get your truck running with that stuff at hand.
