gas tank conversion

I'm building a 69 body on a 86 1 ton frame. I bought a suburban rear tank for it. Is there a crossmember I need? The tank fits between frame rails, but there's nothing above it for the straps to hold it tight against. Any input or pics would be apprciated.

Re: gas tank conversion

I bought an 87 Suburban as a donor vehicle for my diesel swap and when I pulled the tank I also pulled the crossmembers.
They went right in nicely and make the tank swap a breeze.

You might find it easiest to just go hit a junkyard for the factory crossmembers.

Re: gas tank conversion

I bolted in some angle iron and mounted the tank straps to that...

Five years for your first post?

Re: gas tank conversion

I bought a new tank from classic industies, so I didn't have the donor truck to look at. Wanted to make sure I was missing something before I went to junk yard to find it. If I cant get one I will fabricate it but I'm trying to make this truck appear original by using slightly modified factory mounts and brackets.
As for being slow to post, I suppose I was content to watch. But I really like how this prodject is shaping up and wanted to share it.
Thank you for your input

Here's the obligatory, "Where's the pics?", request....
