Is an 87 bed the same as a 77 bed?

Thinking about chopping my 77 lwb down to a swb and I have access to an 87 bed for free. Do they have the same body lines? The 87 is about an hour from me and I can't get there until this weekend so I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone knew. I tried to search first but came up empty handed.

Yes the bed will swap to your swb the only thing that is different is on the 80's bed it'll have gas cap covers that's really the only difference.

Gas doors. Tailgate hardware. The bump in the floor for the fill hose.
But will bolt in place.
I have 85 quarters on a 73 floor.

Agree with the above, but would add the single tank on the 77 will be on the right side, and the single tank on the 87 will be on the left side.

If either (or both) had dual tanks then it's no issue.

Yes, the tail gate will be a little different. Can you use the tailgate from the long bed?

I could but the 87 has a really nice one. I know it'll all come to me when I get them side by side but I was thinking I'd just put the trim from the 77 on the 87 bed and tailgate. I know I'll have to drill a bunch of holes to put my trim on the bed sides but as long as the body lines are the same and it keeps me from having to shorten my 77 bed then I'm all for it. 77 bed has some body damage and rust anyway and the 87 does not.

Both have dual tanks but I'm considering eliminating one of them. I'm going to be moving the tanks from the 87 over so I have the intank fuel pumps for my LS swap. The switching valve on the 77 is shot so it's only ran off of one tank for years anyway.
