1960 1 ton?
I found this 1960 1 ton. for $800. I'm curious how it is a one ton with split rims and a single rear axle? It says C30 and that its rated at 10000 lbs. It also has a leaf spring in the back and a bumper. The flat bed is off of a ford...so that doesnt help me. Its a inline six with a 4SPD.

I guess the wheels and the single axle is throwing me off...Shouldn't a 1 ton be a dually?

It also probably had a 9 Ft Pick-up Bed on it as well, unless it had a utility body or another type of special bed on it. If you measure the Wheel Base, we could tell for sure.
To confuse us all even more, they also made a C-20 3/4 Ton Dual Wheel truck as well in the later years. Bill

Another way to look at your truck is that you have an extra Heavy Duty 3/4 Ton that is rated for 10,000 Lbs. The Wheels are most likey 16 Inch.

HA ...Well am I right that the wheel base is either like 133 or 137 inches?
Im kinda guessing your on the money with a pickup bed. I've just never seen another. Im thinking about leaving the ford flat bed on there and saying "The ford didnt make it ,but it had one good part on it."

Like a HD 3/4?...it does say C30 on it. At first I thought the old farmer that had it switched all the parts off of another to a good frame, but its all to good looking for that. ONly thing home made was flat bed brackets.

It's correct. Your truck is supposed to say "C-30".

That C30 should also have coil springs up front instead of the torsion bars typically found on the '60-'62 C10's and C20's.

I'm curious about the I-6. Is it a 235 or a 261? I'd think that with a 1ton that it'd be a 261. Get the casting numbers and we'll check it.

In 1960, this was known as a "Apache 30". 1 tons were available with single wheels all the way around as well as the dual wheel version. Does not have front hub adapter, so this was a single wheel when new. The lock ring wheels on front (they are not split rims) do not have clips, they have bumps, so they are not the original wheels to the truck. All Chevy trucks except 4WD, used torsion bar front end in 1960. 235 was the only 6 offered in 1960 in 10 thru 30 series. 261 was not a standard option till 1962 on 10 thru 30 series. Things get changed over the years, so you really never know what 6 is under the hood. One tons are geared very low ( 5.13), good for hauling heavy loads around town or farm, but not freeway friendly.

In 1954, a 261-cubic-inch (4.3 L) truck engine was introduced as an optional Jobmaster engine for heavy-duty trucks. This engine was very similar to the 235 engine, except for a different block casting with a larger piston bore of 3.750” or 95.25 mm, two extra coolant holes (in the block and head) between three paired (siamesed) cylinders, and a slightly higher lift camshaft. This engine was offered as a step up from the 235 starting in 1954. It was offered in parallel with the GMC V6 engine in 1960 until 1963, when it was discontinued. The 261 USA truck engine had mechanical lifters and was available from 1954 to 1962.
The 235 and 261 truck engines were also used by GMC Truck of Canada (GMC truck 6-cylinder engines were also used in Canada). The 1955–1962 Canadian full-size Pontiac car had an optional 261-cubic-inch engine that had hydraulic lifters. This engine was not sold in the USA, but was very similar to the USA truck 261.

I don't know the details as someone like factorystock or MitchFloyd, but I have seen a couple C30's from the '60-'62 year range that had coil springs up front. Admittedly they may not have been 1960's but they were in that year group.

Thanks I do like the truck. It is a 235. It does have torsion bars up front.
The rings on the wheels do have one split. So these arnt actual split rims? they are just bump rings? Never even hear of those.
