convert nv4500 to 2wd

So, I am planning on replacing my transmission. I found an nv4500 from a dodge gas 4wd. I know I will need to either get a new input shaft, or shorten the one I have. I was wondering if I had to swap out the mainshaft and tailhousing though, or if maybe there is a yoke I could mount on the back of the transmission with a slider in the driveshaft instead.
Thanks

Have you already purchased this tranny?

I just bought an NV4500 that was listed on craigslist. I waited until I found one that came from a two-wheel-drive Chevy so it would be a simple install.

Plenty of NV4500s out there.

I did not buy it yet, but nv4500s are a lot harder to find around here. Im just looking at my options.

Re: convert nv4500 to 2wd

There are a few guys on ebay selling rebuilt NV4500s that advertise they will build one for specific applications.

Maybe more expensive than finding one locally, but by the time you open up a Dodge tranny and swap parts to make it compatable with your Chevy, you will most likely spend as much or more than simply buying the tranny you need, not to mention the extra time and effort.

Just a thought.....

I saw them on ebay, but the thing is that I really love mechanics. I like tearing into stuff and rebuilding it. As long as the pricing is similar I would rather tear into it myself.
