got my CUCV

this is the latest CUCV to my fleet so for those who ask a CUCV will fir on a Uhaul auto transporter it is prolly 500 lbs over the alleged uhaul limit but if you deflate the front tires some it will strap down and the galvanized Uhaul is longer than the older orange metal one and the truck just fits on there with like an inch or so of trailer beind the back wheel. the truck will also go on and off without removing the uhaul fenders and the door will swing open without lowering the fender
we used extra tie downs on the truck just to be safe and the thing you see hanging down is the front driveshaft
Body is dang near mint on this oen just a tad of rust and a small forklift mark ( no dent)
for starters the truck needs a starter and batteries as well as a front u joint and rear driveshaft but other than that its whole and looks pretty decent

years ago I had a 99 four cylinder ranger and I hauled a cab and chassis with a flatbed on it minus the motor and trans from the foot of PA on I81 to Sayreville NJ and another time I hauled a 72 cab back and forth between MA and NC

Re: got my CUCV

Nice find. Get it off of GL or private seller? I've got a couple of 1009's and they are some of my favorites because no need to worry about scratches and the fuel mileage is great (as I'm sure you know). What are your plans for it?

My plans are to take the one I already have which has a lot of work done to it already ( one of my workers stole it went offroading and swamped it) and swap stuff over to make one exceptionally one good truck and one beater.. the beater will continue to haul dirt and rocks and construction debris as the other one is more of a backup and truck for the property I just bought.. It will have historical plates on it to keep the costs down

Now you're learning. Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. Never hurts to have an extra CUCV or two around either lol.

Did you have it overloaded with that CUCV and u-haul? Might explain the trans puking out if it was.

according to the dealer and the website I can tow 11000 lbs the vehicle weight according to the scale at Ft Meade was 14980 if you include the towing vehicle ,tools, passengers, uhaul and cucv which if you go with the data on the Ford website im still under MGVW

Re: got my CUCV

well I tried to get this one running properly which was a chore.. It needed to start with ether but after doing fluids and belts and being unable to get the glow plugs to work and all plus the fuel quit flowing in the cold here so while trying to sell my other cucv someone made an offer I couldn't refuse and this one went to its new owner today.. So long Army truck!

Sorry to hear you let her go. These dang diesels can be a bit tempermental I am finding out. One little thing can reap havoc on these engines.

Memories. Had a 72 El Camino 4 speed car as well as a 64 and a 69, all stick shifts.
Bought an 80 El C SS brand new with a factory 4 speed and 305. Radio and A/C delete so I could afford it! Nice car but what a dog in stock condition.
Like that Monte too!
Good Luck!
