1969 2WD lift kit???
Hello folks,
Anyone know of an off-the-shelf lift kit available for a 1969 3/4 ton? Mine is the Camper Special which has a slightly narrower rear axle and fits 10" rims for hauling those heavy-ass old school campers. It has a front coils and a really long rear traveling arm w/ a funcky inverted rear spring holding it in place. I've checked around on-line and have not found anythign from Trailmaster, Rancho, FabTech. Also emailed tech support at Rancho and thye said 'good luck'. I can't imagine there is not a lift available for this truck. A buddy of mine does custom racing suspension and he can put something together to get 2-3 inches, btu I'm really looking for a kit that fits my application. Thanks!! |

The custom set up will probably be the way to go unless you install a body lift.

There are parts out there like A-ams and springs but nobody has a kit. You can go BB springs on the front for a 1-2" lift if you have a SB in the truck. The rear can be done with air shocks. All in all you can get about 2 maybe 3 inches lift,

Since 73 - 87 front end parts swap into these trucks (with the right parts), wouldn't things like lift spindles work? As for the rear, I got no idea other than taking it to a custom shop and getting the long-arms lengthened.

Rancho used to sell a kit a few years back. I used one of there's on my 3/4 ton and was able to clear 33's no problem.

Does your truck have drum or disc brakes? are the rear springs leaf or coils?
I have a 1971 chevy 3/4 ton pick up thats lifted. the front is lifted with rancho springs from a 1973-1987 3/4 - 1 ton application. (1 ton springs will do just the same) and a ball joint spacer. The rear is stock leaf springs with a add-a-leaf. It also has a 3 inch body lift and clearing 33 inch bfg mud terrains on 16.5 x 9 3/4 inch rims. I am waiting for a shop to call back and give me the go ahead to take my truck in. He is going to re-work my spindles and give me an additional 4 inches. I have called around and have no leads on any company who makes a 3/4 or 1 ton lifted spindle for the 73-87 trucks. the later spindles could be re-machined to work, but I have not heard anyone of doing this method. hope this helps |
