Here's a picture of the ol flatbed that used to be on mine. It's straight on the underneath and the guy used some rail road ties cut to 6 inch wide by 8 inch tall and the length of the frame as the supports. He cut the wood to match the bends of the frame and set the bed on and welded little foot long metal strips and it wasn't going anywere! Took me 4 hours to cut the dang thing off!

Re: 65 chevy flat bed swap. need ideas
Flat beds were also installed by local body companies, one can use channel as the front filler from the frame to the body then have some custom made u-bolts made to tie the front down (some used wood as the filler) at the rear just add a piece of strap 1/4"- 4" x 6-8" bolt it to the frame and weld it to the body long sill. (one can weld behind the rear axle to the frame with out hurting anything) 3" or 4" channel can also be used.......

Re: 65 chevy flat bed swap. need ideas
My '64 flat bed. Bed was a total loss, re used all the attaching points with new hardware and used the stock inner fenders mounted from the bottom up on the wood. Truck is lowered about 4 inches or so, if you have any questions or would like some more detailed pictures let me know. The idea for the very low deck of the wood bed is for the ease of loading bikes.

Re: 65 chevy flat bed swap. need ideas
pretty happy with how it turned out , it is just on long enough to weld tabs on, then its all apart for paint and new deck wood. im always open for ideas on color, someone put the thought of painting the flat bed the same color as the body. chose this green for the bottom, tops already white going to be a two tone. what do yall think?
