source for good fitting replacement windshield seal?

My windshield is all cloudy on the bottom and looks like crap. It's replacement is on my short list. The seal in there now (not the original) fits pretty lousy on the inside- outside the cab looks OK. Has anybody had any luck finding a nice looking/correctly fitting replacement seal? (BTW - mine has the chrome trim too)

Thanks but I have their door seals (push-on) and am ready to replace them (I have had them on for maybe 6 weeks and still have to slam the door embarrassingly hard to close them). I'll see if there are any other good options...

You will not find anything better than precision seals for the windshield. You will also not find a door seal that will let your door shut without slamming it for a while. The aftermarket door seals all have this problem and it just takes time for them to get happy.

If you do find an aftermarket door seal that will allow a nice clean door shut (no slamming), please let us know where to find them.

I'm tempted to try soffseal.... Pricey but seriously- I am going to start breaking parts on my doors as hard as I have to slam them (and I can't adjust them to close better).

Re: source for good fitting replacement windshield seal?

Precision was the only ones I had previously used. Until the last windshield I got in a package deal. It was a LMC windshield with a new gasket. I had no unexpected difficulties with the install but it wasn't a deluxe with the trim. Agreed with the comments on door seals have not seen any that didn't require a break in period.

Stay away from sofseal they are junk. Bought one of their windshield gaskets and it was awful - I threw it in the trash it was so bad. Precision is best choice but they are hit and miss as well, they fit ok but their replacement trim is mediocre at best.

Re: source for good fitting replacement windshield seal?

If you are usin trim, use OEM 67-70 trim with a Precision gasket. It seats deeper and will not pop out. I used this combo on my 72 and it was installed within 15 mins by the glass guy and fits perfectly.

Re: source for good fitting replacement windshield seal?

Me and a couple buddies put a windshield in my 71 recently using the precision seal with the early style stainless trim. Very simple and I couldn't be more happy with how it looks and seals.

Re: source for good fitting replacement windshield seal?

Ive read that an adhesive backed door seal is much better than the oem style-----anyone have any experience here?

Re: source for good fitting replacement windshield seal?

I have the GMC Pauls push on seals on my 67 GMC and they work great, I vented them at the bottom as per the instructions. If the one piece windows are closed or the cab air vents are closed both doors must be shut firmly, Not hard just firmly. with the windows down or the cab vents open they both shut easily.
