Original paint Forrester Green
I'm thinking about painting my '57 3200 one of the stock colors for the AD trucks.
Forrester Green was available for '47 thru 54 Chevy trucks. Got these codes from painref.com: Ford - MX704946 Chrysler - DT7050 PPG/Ditzler - 40519 Dupont - 246-62006, 93-62006 Martin Senour - 284 Sherwin Williams - 8361 What's my best bet to try and get this color in a modern single-stage urethane? |

Re: Original paint Forrester Green
I'd go to the automotive paint store I normally use and see what they say.
I see that you most likely found this page http://www.paintref.com/cgi-bin/pain...rester%20Green

Re: Original paint Forrester Green
San Angelo is pretty close to the end of the known world but if there isn't a paint store there that you want to deal with what other Texas city do you go to on a regular basis?
Midland isn't that far nor is Abilene but there is also Austin and Waco among the mix but a bit further down the road. I see that there is a NAPA there, do they mix paint? If my buddy still worked at Napa I could ask him but he retired a couple of years ago. Or what about Three Rivers auto parts?

Re: Original paint Forrester Green
I have been talking with my local supply store here about original colors and they didn't seem to have a problem with colors. I have not ordered them yet but Wesco Supply in Olympia Wa might be able to help you out. I have been thinking about the same color or the original dark blue. They mixed a single stage urethane for my el camino.

Three Rivers is a PPG supplier but I don't like dealing with them.
Napa doesn't mix paint but there's an O'Reilly's that does Dupont. Don't know if I would trust them though. |

Looks like a road trip is in the works then.

Re: Original paint Forrester Green
I would have to make calls.
I was hoping someone here would have experience with which company might have a formula for that color in SS urethane before I made a bunch of calls. |

Re: Original paint Forrester Green
Try a Sherwin-Williams automotive paint store if you have one anywhere near you. My local store has color charts for most any color from any vehicle and can mix it in SS urethane if that's what you want.
It might be my imagination, but my paint work always seems to come out better when I us S-W paint. |

The guy I normally buy paint from is a Pro-Spray dealer. He is sending me a sample of RAL-6005 which is a green that he says is close to the Forester green and one he uses a lot. I guess I will wait until I get that sample and sprayed on something before I start making calls to try and find Forester. Here's RAL-6005: Here's a Forester Green truck and the look I like. I think it would look great on a '57: |
