Most Valuable 67-72 Trucks

What are the most valuable trucks of our vintage? Were there versions similar to the Yenkos, or CoPo's? Or a SWB with a BB?

yes there were super cheyennes with bb and short bed. several years back they would bring crazy money but not any more. They are still high and hard to find but dont bring what they used to like everything else.

Agree with Mike - a Cheyenne Super swb 402 tends to bring the most $ these days. However, there are other unique/low production number combinations of options that are also highly desirable, or a specific combo of desirable trim/other options. For example:

K10 Cheyenne Super swb (that swb thing always garners more $$) note that 402 not available in 4x4 K's
K20 Cheyenne Super Custom Camper (ok, my personal favorite combo...)
68 Anniversary truck (and the price goes up as the wheelbase goes down)

Individual options that pile up on a single SPID tend to make a truck more valuable as well:

402
bucket seats/console
Tinted glass
Aux Batt
Custom Camper nameplate
Camper Wiring
Camper Mirrors (individual taste, but they are an "upgrade")
Aux Fuel Tank(s)
Deluxe two-tone paint
In increasing order from a base "Custom" trim level: Custom Deluxe, Cheyenne (or CST in 70 and earlier trucks), Cheyenne Super, etc
Highlander option packages (72 Custom Deluxe only)
And so on!

I bought a 72 GMC Burban because I thought the options are on it are somewhat rare or maybe more appropriately - more desirable: Deluxe Two Tone paint, Tinted windows, 402, Rear Air, Aux fuel tank, 3/4 ton with full floating rear axle. And I don't know if coils in the rear are unusual for a Burban, but I thought it would ride better. Still learning but some features are definitely worth more

Its a very interesting thing "perception". While I tend to like more rare options like BB, tack, factory air, houndstooth seat and so forth; public reaction can differ. I own a 71 Super BB with factory tack, houndstooth, and A/C and a 71 plain jane Custom Deluxe with add on air. The difference is the Custom Deluxe is a short bed. When I take them to shows public reaction is always better with the short bed. Could be the hugger orange versus the Dark Olive but all things considered the short beds always draw more attention regardless of trim level or options. Just my .02 cents.

Yeah, I think it has a lot to do with that Hugger Orange...very eye catching, and nice trucks by the way!
I've never been a big fan personally of the short/fleets but they are definitely popular and sought after.
So where does this leave the short 'steppers' in the collectability food chain? behind the long fleets or???

Here's the most valubale one to me! my daily driver BB, tach, 17 inch rims, larger front sway bar, C10, green interior in pretty nice shape. A work in process that's for sure.

Right now, I think 69-72 K5 Blazers nicely restored to stock, are bringing the most $. A superbly done shortbed restomod with modern drive train can also command some big money.

Since I'm partial to 4wds and don't get the strong attraction for SWB trucks save for a BB equipped examples I'd vote for clean A/C equipped CST Blazers and K20 Cheyenne Supers with orange a plus

I met several 67-72 truck fans last week at local body shops and they ALL were into short beds. I just think a long bed looks more "balanced" and rather wish my truck was a lwb. My dad was the PO though and he couldn't disagree with me more. Oh well....I like both lwb steppers and lwb fleets....the fleets look KILLER with side trim and 2-tone paint.

Value is perception with these trucks. Value is dictated by demand and demand is dictated by popularity and rarity nowadays. Most construction workers would frown on a SWB for using a truck because the bed is too short to haul anything practically. As stated in previous posts
, SWB big block is a drool factor for most. Only those really knowledgeable with these trucks gets excited about the little things. Its not universal like seeing an Eleanor Mustang where crowds know what they are looking at.

From my experience in today's market, it's the short/fleet big block trucks followed by the K10 blazers in 2 or 4wd. Stock appearing resto's seem to bring the most money, but a well done resto-mod is always an exception. It's apparent to me that any deviation from stock needs to be really really well executed to add any value. Lots of stuff out there falling a little short on the fab skills and craftsmanship, which hurts the value to anyone other than the builder. As a whole, truck values are down 30% or more from the late 2000's.

its all personal opinion but i see any RCSB c10 with porterbuilt suspension being the most in "fab" right now. as far as selling, short beds always have the market share. k10s or c10s. and really nice original paint and unmodified trucks seem to be popular.

personally i prefer the K20. one of the lower production numbers regardless of options or year and always tough looking. hard to find in good condition as most are worked hard. i like them both super nice like DeadheadNM's beautiful truck that i never got a ride in... or totally hashed and beat like mine!
