Well, been looking around and finally found a good deal on a suburban. It's a 1986 with 350/700r4 (both rebuilt in the last 3 years) and has cold AC. Ah, that feels good.

He was asking 2500 and I got it for 2000. I'm thinking of taking the running boards off, what do y'all think?

I love it thats a nice truck.Is it 4wd or 2wd?wish i could find one that nice around here for that price.

Looks good. I don't think that I have ever seen a burb with the small mirrors on it. You'd think that a vehicle that would possibly be used for towing would have th elephant ears on it. Don't get me wrong, I like the look with the small mirrors.

It's a 2wd. About the mirrors, I actually would like to have the dumbo ears because the truck is so long. The small mirros just don't give you much of a view back there. Oh well, I like the look of them so I'll probably just add some blind spot mirrors and go with that.

Looks like you got a good deal. I just bought one last week. Mine has a crate 350 with the 400 trans. I've had so many pickups but this is my first Suburban. I can't believe how well it rides. That long wheel base makes a good luxury liner. I personally don't like the runningboards. Mine has the molded kind that wrap around both fender wells. I'm afraid to take mine off because the paint underneath probably won't match. Good luck with your Suburban.

Thanks Mike. I'm wondering if the shocks for my SWB are the same shocks that are on this burb? I have brand new shocks on the SWB and would like to swap them with this one. Think it will work?

I would think that they would work. Perhaps you can check with a local shop like Midas and ask if their reference charts called for the same shock.

Looks pretty good. I would ditch the running boards, though.

definately lose the boards and don't lynch me...but I'd lower it too...like a 2/3 or a 3/4 drop...just enough to notice.

Well, I guess if I lowered it, it'd would be easy for the wife and kids to get into.

Nope, it's staying as is. I'm not going to be dropping much money into it. Although, that may change as time goes on.

Scott, what kind of shape are the mirrors in? If you ever want the "dumbos" I have a set on the 89 Blazer doors I bought and won't be needing them...and if you like we can trade. The mirrors are in perfect shape. Just let me know.

The mirrors are perfect on this truck. However, I don't want to have to patch up the holes if I removed these. I really do like the dumbos as vision is better.

From my experience you wouldn't have to patch up those holes when removed. They would be reused for the upper mounting of the dumbos. You would however have to add a third hole to put the dumbo mirrors on. They would need the lower support.

Nice Burb! I might have to keep an eye out for one now...

The lower hole would be easy to drill back out. Should just have some filler in the hole. Unless he welded it up when the morrors were changed. But thats unlikely, I would think.

Only thing I would change would be to add dumbo mirrors... I personally like running boards both for the way they look, and also becuase I am less likley to dislocate my knee with the running board to step on than otherwise! Even though I have dislocated it stepping up to my running board... Hurts like crazy, and I still dunno why it actually happens... I'm only 16, yet my grandparents have better knees than I do... Last time I dislocated it was stepping up to our boat from the beach, took it right out... Typing about it makes me shudder becuase I can just feel the bone sliding outta place....
