Drop spindle questions

I don't know a whole lot about drop spindles...obviously I would want them to be well made but I'm on a budget so if I can get some good ones for cheap that would be great if you could post up a link to some that are a good deal that would be great

Is this a good deal and does anybody have any reason why I shouldnt get these?

Re: Drop spindle questions

That's what I'm running. It would be best if you could pick them up or get free shipping.Spindles are heavy and will cost a bit to ship. You might check the vendors list on the home page and see if someone is close to you.Call and see if they have them in stock then you can save shipping by picking them up. Just a WAG(wild a$$ guess) but shippig may run as much as half the price of the spindles, unless you find "Free Shipping".

Re: Drop spindle questions

Not to steal this post, but didnt want to start another with the exact same title, and I think this may have the original poster as well depending on the answer.

Do you need any other brackets for drop spindles if your sticking with stock disks brakes? I know with modular drop spindles from CPP you also have to buy the 75.00 brackets to install your brakes. Thats just an additional charge some people arent aware of.... Like myself until I read about it on this board.

Re: Drop spindle questions

The caliper mounts are cast into the spindles, stock and direct replacement drop ones, no brackets needed. I always run Early Classic spindles, cheap and good don't mix with spindles...or anything really.

Re: Drop spindle questions

Mcgaueys, cpp, ece, are basically all the same. A lot of the time they will send you Western brand too, which work great. There are no additional brackets required on standard drop spindles. I know nothing about the modular design ones.

Summit has free shipping on orders 99 dollars or more. Bottom line, their delivered to your door price is gonna stomp a mud hole in anyone else.

Shipping isn't to bad now days. I can ship a 20x20x27 inch box that weighs 110 lbs for about $110-125 right now. And that isn't a business rate just a random guy shipping a single item.

Re: Drop spindle questions

Buy them. That is the best deal you will find. I'd also bet they are Western brand, as that is what CPP usually sells for 71-72 drop spindles.

A great majority of my stuff comes from Summit. I've used them heavily for over 20 years. One of the very best mail order houses out there. Your spindles are likely to ship out of their Georgia warehouse so you'll get them quick.

What year front suspension is on your truck now?
Those are 71-72 specific spindles.

Re: Drop spindle questions

I purchased mine from Summitt. They were CPP, no brackets needed for my 71. Free Shipping and all that good stuff.
