Frame sizes?

Are the frames on 3/4 ton 2x4 the same as the 4x4? I know there will be an additional cross member for the x-fer case, but are the frames generally the same?
What about 1/2 ton vs. 3/4?
I had a '72 K 20 in high school (25 yrs ago, Yikes!) and want to put something together one of these days....

Re: Frame sizes?

Any info out there on the 67-72 frames?

K-20's in the North East in good shape are hard to come by. I was thinking on a C-20, like one of the camper specials and doing a conversion.

I know it'll still be a C according to the vin, but I don't really care. Just something that isn't riddled with cancer.

Re: Frame sizes?

Frames for 2wd are different than 4x4. 2wd frames (coils and leafs) have a kick-out at the rear wheels whereas the 4x4's don't; they are straight front to rear.

Why the "kick out"? To make room for the coils?

Thanks for the replies.
