Porterbuilt steering and power steering line part list (Nate?)
Hey everyone!
I am looking for a parts list to get my steering all completed. I have a drop member on my 86 c10. What are the parts that I will need to get my steering all set up? Also I have heard that the fox body rack can feel a little to fast/light when powered by the large GM pump, is there true to this? I have a newer l31 v8 out of 98 silverado if that makes a difference I have a feeling that the pump is probably the same fitting size.

We currently offer a power steering hose kit to adapt the Mustang rack to GM pump. We are using a Borgeson hose kit and repackaging it with the correct fittings. The Borgeson kit comes standard with METRIC to AN fittings... which will thread into the rack, but won't seal due to the fact that the threads in the rack are STANDARD. The hoses are a "universal" length which works great on some configurations but not ideal on others. We are working with another company to provide a kit that has one end of the pressure hose crimped and the other loose so that the end user can trim the hose to fit as desired then take the hose to a local hose supply shop and have it crimped. Not all power steering pump and bracket configurations are the same so this could be helpful. In regards to the pressure regulator... Unisteer recommends it. I have only heard feedback from a handful of customers who actually installed one or felt the need to install one. The nice thing is that if the rack feels too light, the pressure regulator is pretty simple to change and can be tuned for whatever steering feel the end user would like. Not sure if I provided you the list of part numbers and such that you needed... if you need to purchase any items just shoot us a call or an email. Nate

I installed a different rated pump valve but have not tried it yet and probably won't until late next summer I installed a Borgeson box in my 62 Impala and am using a KRC pump with remote reservoir. Their pumps have about six different rate valves you can install to set the steering response.
