Where to get ethanol free gas
Just stumbled across this... Not sure where to post it because it should be of interest to everybody on this site. I'm so sick and tired of my power equipment getting trashed by ethanol laced gas and have been worried what it's doing to my truck. Finally found a (kinda) local source for clean gas. Here's a map of all ethanol free gas stations in the country. (Not sure how accurate it is so I would definitely call before making a trip).

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
Farm Co-Op's. It's only 89 octane but a little booster and it magically 93-94 octane. And cheaper to boot. In Texas it is completely legal to buy and run on the street. You could also run AV-gas Can't run it in a EFI engine... but man will it liven things up! (not legal)
I run it in my boat and lawn equipment. (Farm gas) I smoked the motor in my boat last year due to ethanol burn. That stuff is bad news in a carbed engine.

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
I guess real gas is still plentiful in Oklahoma. Some gas stations have both E10 and regular. During certain seasons the 7-11s and others switch back and forth. I wont use E10 unless there is not another station around and I need gas, even then I will only get a few gallons. I go to Shell or Valero stations for quality non ethanol gas.

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
That is ridiculous! regular 87 octane is $.15 to $.30 more than the E10 equivalent in Oklahoma. I figure even if it does not harm the vehicle it is a wash when you consider losing a couple MPGs with E10.

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
Can't buy real gas anywhere near me. None in the state of New Jersey at all. Unless its race gas or marine gas, nearly impossible to find in SE PA as well.
I got some real gas last summer in either TN or NC (not sure where I was at the time--- or what day it was) on a bike trip. Bike ran soooooo much better.

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
is gas with ethanol really that bad for the older engines? I knew it was worse, but how much worse I am not sure

It also attacks plastic and rubber, so fuel hoses and other soft parts will fail quicker with ethanol.

The one on Vine St is way downtown (an hour in traffic), and the next closest one is almost an hour away but twice the distance. I'm not interested in risking my truck or my life in the city to get better gas. The others are approaching a 2-hour drive.

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
Wow, there are about 5 times as many stations in CA as I expected to see. They are in one of the least populated areas, but there are some....I'm shocked.

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
If you have a Quik Fill in your area check with them. One near me recently added an ethanol free 91 octane. Haven't pumped any so I don't cost.

I use Seafoam for the gas in all my small engines, and it definitely makes a huge difference in how they run. Any stabilizing product should have a positive effect.

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
google peak oil.
Cool thing about ethanol (and SVO) is you can make your own... its basically moonshine well...not E10 but E85 is pretty close. I wish I was a chemist so I could elaborate more with some useful info. good link to know tho

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
Stabil will still cause issues if it sits for a extended period of time, I have seen carbs with stabil that has sat for a year, and there are harder to clean than a non-stabilized system. The one thing I have several customers trying is av-gas. So far no issues. I still expect to see exposed fuel lines and primer bulbs to rot though.

Re: Where to get ethanol free gas
It appears I will have to travel an hour to the NW or over 2 hours to the other Eastern Shore of MD.
Good to see that some good stuff is still sold in MD.
