Heater replacement?

I'm in the middle of getting my new to me cab ready to put on my 64 gmc. i have the deluxe heater in the truck now. My question is has any one ever put a heater from a differant car/truck in their truck to remove the "bread box" under the hood and clean up the firewall?

Re: Heater replacement?

There actually was a heater that did not use have the bread box called a recirculating heater. The only thing you see on the firewall is where the core tubes come through for supply and return. If you are looking to get rid of the bread box, that would be a model year correct solution.

Re: Heater replacement?

Thanks but that really wasn't my question. I was wondering if any body ever put heater/ac from another year car/truck in their 60-66. And if it fit under/behind the dash.

Re: Heater replacement?

My non deluxe heater did not have external box. Vintage Air has just heater if that is what you are looking for. Small enough to fit in a Deuce. Of coarse they have direct fit AC/heat.
This is a shot of the fire wall. I will have to find out where I left the other pictures.
