Re: Portland Swap meet this weekend

Wish I was going. The spring one 20 years ago was the first day of our honeymoon.

Re: Portland Swap meet this weekend

It's been a long time since I've been to the fall one. Not anywhere near as big as the spring one but some interesting stuff tends to show up as guys decide to sell off some excess pieces to get funds for their projects.

Re: Portland Swap meet this weekend

The Spring one is way better. Wasn't much to see. Bought a period correct accessory for my truck, a blue 1950 Schwinn Phantom. Needs a few parts and some clean up. paid $50

I think they advertise though the came channels that they have since they started. Most of the guys who have gone for years know what weekend it usually is and mark it on their calender.
The one time I went, I had gone to Portland with my best friend to take two cars down in a dealer trade for a new Corvette that we drove back. We slipped by there for about a half hour after doing the swap. Thinking about it, that was a long time ago.

On the Spring swap meet I wish I had enough stuff worth selling to haul a load down just to have a home base at the swap meet and to be able to spend several days there for a change. That way I could mark all the prices and give my wife a good excuse to sit in her lawn chair with a book while I wore myself out running around the swap meet (s).
