Re: Stakes.....

I like the look, and they are real handy for a working truck. Here's mine. Not real pretty, but it's a reliable, hardworking POS.

(BTW, your pictures don't show up for me)

Re: Stakes.....

I like these trucks with and without stakes, or as some refer to them "side boards". If mine was a working truck it would likely have a custom built set. They can add a certain sense of style, along with functionality depending on how they are built. I know I've seen more examples on the forums, but these appear to be the only photos I've collected:

Re: Stakes.....

If you absolutely can’t find the pieces you’re after and have welding skills, you might consider a custom mount like former member Lakeroadster did on his stepside. The details are shown starting at post #11 on the following thread:

Thanks! Just took a look! I have some welding skills....and it looks like a good clean carrier to! Like the way it is hidden. Thanks for the link. I'm a member there also, buy and sell parts there, so I look there quite often.

I think this truck I quoted here has the best set, although again best doesn't mean attractive.. but it's the set I'd want if I needed stakes on my truck.

Re: Stakes.....

I agree with ya, I like the looks though. But I made mine cause I haul wood with it and they come in handy. One reason why they were not made pretty by any means! But I use my truck alot. once the truck is restored...away they go!lol!

Re: Stakes.....

My wife said the stakes would make the truck look like a farmers truck,,,, I told her that was the Idea. With my wrong bed I get to continue the fleet side trim lines, and extend those lines all the way down the wrong bed to the fleet side bumper. We both like them now after they were done.

Re: Stakes.....

Thanks for posting Mark.

Yup, I live them with or without.

Around town mine are just for the looks. However, on the open road doing distance, I prefer the tonneau just in case it increases my fuel economy.

My 66 had some big old sideboards on it when my dad first bought it. It was a working truck so they were practical. My brother made these up for the community parade. I like 'em
