PB stage 1 in rear. Still use short blocks?

My 70 had a rear bag kit installed by the previous owner. It looks jerry rigged and I don't like it so I just ordered a porterbuilt stage 1 kit for the rear as well as mcgauphy lowering spindles and 2 in coils for the front.

Will eventually replace the front coils with PB stage 1 front as well. Doing things slowly for now.

My question is to keep the bag at a good pressure for riding around and matching the front coil drop, should I add a small block kit to the rear? Maybe 2inch which I have seen recommended in a few threads.

I am not notching the frame for now as I want to be able to tow occasionally.

I think the blocks will only help you if you have a notch.

Correct, and if using with a notch, you can use a slightly lower upper cup or remove altogether. The center "pumpkin" area of the axle actually ends up hitting the bed floor before anything else starts to make contact.... on a c-notch setup.

In your case using the Stage 1, no block will be good. The below picture is the Stage 1, and as you can see, when aired out, it is just right. If using a block, it would require slightly more air to get to ample ride height to allow enough clearance for the axle (distance to the frame) while driving. The Stage 1 should put your ride height similar to a 5" static drop in the rear, which will be a good match to the 4.5" front.
