head liner and trim

i was amazed at how easy it was to refurbish an old headliner i recently found at my favorite wreckingyard for 10 bucks! I found a 72 gmc w/ all the bells and whistels at the top of a heap of ruble. maybe thats why it was still there, folks were afraid to climb the mountain of cars and scrap iron to get the goods.
the chrome trim was faded and the vinal liner was not in the most desirable condition .
the chrome (plastic) trim was easly cleaned up w/ 000 steel wool and repainted chrome and nobody will be the wiser. all that was really any use in the liner was a pattern to cut out a fiber board backing. a trip to walmart to buy a roll of auto carpet and nip and tuck with a little spray adheasive and WAHLA! ! now i have me a new head liner with shining chrome for the price under 25 bucks
i will send a pic of it after instalation(that will be another story!)

If the vinal isn't ripped you can use the spry dye and re-color it.
I have never seen one in a junk yard with a headliner.

have never found 'chrome' paint that was all that great... The many types I have used looked like aluminum paint with not that much gloss......What band of 'chrome' paint did you use?????
